On Friday, November 21st, three air personalities from Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT attended the 36th annual Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia banquet. The fundraising event honored NBC-10 air personality Gene Crane as "Person of the Year." Attending the event from WVLT were Lou Costello (Daily 10 am to 1 pm & Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm), Patti Lattanzi (Thursdays from 7 to 8 pm) and Johnny Lerro (Saturdays from 6 to 8 pm). Also at the dinner was Broadcast Pioneers' Vice-President Gerry Wilkinson, a consultant for Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT.
The get together last year yielded enough money so that the Broadcast Pioneers were able to present six scholarships to New Jersey and Pennsylvania college students this past spring. The group will again offer six more $1,000 scholarships to be awarded in the Spring of 2004. The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia is an organization made up of over 300 Delaware Valley broadcasters including a dozen from Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT!
