Rock & Roll Author James Rosin (Rock, Rhythm and Blues) was the guest speaker at the Broadcast Pioneers Luncheon on February 16th. Rosin's book is all about the beginnings of Rock & Roll and the role the Delaware Valley played. All the great Rock & Roll artists are featured - the ones you hear everyday on Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT.
One of the artists Rosin spoke about was WVLT's "Danny & the Juniors," heard every Monday evening at 10 pm on Cruisin' 92.1. James told about the beginnings of the group and how the record "At the Hop" came into being. Watch James Rosin talk about DANNY & THE JUNIORS
In attendance was Rock & Roll Legend Charlie Gracie who you hear often on Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT. Growing up in South Philly, he's native to our area and currently resides in Drexel Hill where all three of the Gracies (Charlie, wife Joan and son Charlie, Jr.) listen to Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT. Watch Charlie Gracie tell you why he loves WVLT!
Charlie Gracie is on the cover of James' book. Rosin and WVLT's Media Consultant Gerry Wilkinson (who produced Jerry Blavat's TV shows at Channel 12 where Danny & the Juniors appeared) were classmates at Temple University's School of Communications.
Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT doesn't just play your favorite "Good Time Oldies," but we understand why rock & roll developed the way it did. This allows us to select nothin' but your favorite "Good Times & Great Oldies" from vast digital library of tunes (thousands).
From Jerry Blavat (5 to 7 pm, daily) to Danny & the Juniors (Mondays at 10 pm), our people were there at the beginning and we are still here now. This is what sets Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT ahead of the pack. No wonder why we're proud to say, we're South Jersey's #1 Oldies Powerhouse!
