Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT's Bill Mazza started out in broadcasting in 1967 while in the United States Army with the Henderson Entertainment Network. It was a group of 31 different Veterans' Hospitals that would play tapes that Bill created to entertain wounded personnel from the Vietnam Theater of action. The program was recorded at a studio in Tokyo, Japan.
After the service, Bill worked part-time with WOMN in Decauter, Georgia. We also worked with Bill White, Phil Rizutto, Billy Martin, producer Jim Hunter while part of the New York Yankee Broadcasting Network.
In 1982, Bill purchased his own Pennsylvania radio station, WZGO (originally WWML) which he owned until 1999. The station was a daytime AM outlet when Mazza bought it. He later turned it into a full-time 24 hour station and while he owned it, he built and owned an FM station.
While owning those stations, Bill had an association with a lot of the oldies groups that we play right her on Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT. Artists like The Angels, The Coasters, The Drifters. Cruisin' 92.1, WLVT's Bill Mazza developed a lot of local sports coverage for his station including Baseball, Football and Basketball.
When Bill and his wife moved back to South Jersey, Mazza joined the Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT team (in 1999) and has been with us ever since. |
