About Philly Carol

Philly Carol has always loved music. As a child she lived in theKensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, in the late fifties and sixties. Her love of music started as a little girl making memories with her father Carl singing, playing, and recording music in their kitchen. The great sounds of Ray Charles, Bing Crosby, and Nat King Cole were just a few of the many songs that came from Dad’s record player. When dad was at work her mom Dolores always played records and sang her songs around the house. Music would always surround her , spending summer days. listening to her sister and her friends playing their 45′s on the front step. Then when visiting her grandparents she would peek down the steps, and watch her uncles and friends, in the basement dancing to The Twist, The Mashed Potatoe, and The 81. Carol says growing up in the fifties and sixties was a lot of fun! That is why she enjoys Cruisin with the oldies on Cruisin 92.1. She says that music always makes her “happy!” Philly Carol appearing in "Cabaret" at the Landis Theater. Philly Carol worked her way through college as a cocktail waitress and a bartender in Center City Philadelphia, enjoying rock, disco, R&B, and all of the great sounds of the eighties. She has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Chestnut Hill College and enjoys public speaking and history. She is married and shares a house with her husband John and their two dogs. They work together to operate their family business, Reliable Construction. Philly Carol also enjoys performing, in musicals, at The Landis Theater here in Vineland. Carol Cruises down the streets of Philadelphia and the roads of New Jersey. She says she is a little bit city and a little bit country! Carol started in radio as a co-host on “The Millville Mike Fishing Show.” Now, the host of her own show “Cruising With Philly Carol” she enjoys playing music, talking with her guests, and being able to share a good old fashioned hometown show with her listeners. She talks about hometown events, has a joke, a giveaway, a guest, music, and a weekly recipe. Carol loves talking to her listeners when they call in. Come join her every Monday evening between 9 and 10 p.m. and as Carol says ” See you then, and don’t forget to: “Stop and Smell the Roses!”
